CLC’s purpose is the transformation of lives by connecting people to people and people to God. Our vision is rest – everyone operating by the Power of God in every area of their lives.
The church is here to feed and care for you, and also to equip you for your destiny. The church is not here to hold people together, it is what people do that holds the church together. We are God’s instruments for the expansion of Kingdom influence, and we need to realize that His presence is the ability we live on.
As the church, CLC has the right anointing to achieve God’s vision for bringing Heaven to Earth but we have been operating from the wrong platform. CLC has been doing apostolic work from a pastoral platform. In biblical times Apostles were sent in to culturize an area, to train the people in new ways of thinking. They would change their needs to reach the culture. And that is what we are doing at CLC, we are adjusting to serve you better.
The first way CLC has done that is by separating Community and Care from equipping. Pastor Ervin Armstrong is now the Senior Associate Pastor in charge of care and community for CLC, he will be primarily assisted by Pastor Tommie Jennings to effectively meet those needs of CLC members. They will also be supported by Pastor John Knowlton, Pastor Mike Brown and Pastor Steve Griffin (for Kalamazoo members), Pastor Miles and Diana Fitzpatrick (for Battle Creek members), and Pastors Mykel & Melissa Barnes, Pastors Skot and Barbara Welch, and Garry & Diane Patrick (for Grand Rapids area members). This Pastoral team is here for all aspects of care: funerals, weddings, hospital visits and counseling. Additionally, a CLC Counseling Center will eventually be established consisting of 20-25 trained coaches.
Pastor Brooks will continue delivering the uncompromised Word of God every Sunday.
The second change CLC is initiating is the launch of the new “Dominion school of Supernatural Ministry & Leadership.” This will fulfill the equipping piece. The School will be a Word-based and presence-driven platform to provide training in the transformation of individuals in systems and cultures. The School will address each of the 7 system gates: Religious, Health, Government (political and justice), Business, Non-Profits, Media and Education.
The school will be primarily taught by Pastor Brooks, but will also include aspects of Bethel Church’s curriculum and include streamlined sessions taught by their Senior Pastor Bill Johnson and Senior Associate Pastor Kris Vallotton. Students signing up for the first semester will receive an intense and condensed curriculum by receiving a full-year value in one semester. Students will receive teachings, activations, training, internships (within CLC) and strategic deployment, wherein task forces are created through an innovation process creating prototypes for changing systems.
The school will begin January 12, 2012 with classes offered every Thursday from 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm and every third Saturday from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm through May 31, 2012. Classes will be held on CLC’s Kalamazoo campus and also made available via live-stream satellite to Grand Rapids members, who will also be able to participate in question and answer sessions via text messaging. The cost is $1,000.
The third way CLC is changing is by addressing the structure that will be needed for this growth. For that purpose, Pastor Greg Stewart, PhD, has been hired to build that structure and to establish internal systems by creating a culture of discipline as well as staff development. Pastor Brooks will be transitioning out of the day-to-day operations at CLC, but will still be used by God to form the overall vision for CLC.
These changes will allow Pastor Brooks to focus on four areas: (1) teaching and feeding the church; (2) writing books, that will be the foundational curriculum for the School; (3) writing, producing and recording music; and (4) providing leadership training for those desiring time with Pastor by going deeper and further in the Word.
